IMAGING GLOSSARY
Color model (imaging)A method for producing a new color by mixing a
small set of standard colors: sometimes called a color system. The most
common color models are:
GRAYSCALE: white to black,
with all shades of gray in between.
RGB: Red, green, and blue: this is
an additive color model used by computer monitors, depending on a light
source to produce color. Usually RGB values are specified as percentages or
as values from 0 to 255.
CMYK: Cyan, magenta, yellow, and
black; a subtractive color model and typical printing process colors,
dependent on the light-absorbing properties of ink on paper.See
color space.
