ABIC CHECK IMAGING-JPEG2000 SDK - PDF/TIFF TOOLKIT
File Format Support
Many image files require a format conversion before they can be opened in a different application.
Additionally, some image files are better suited for specific uses than
others. For instance, for online display when deciding between GIF
or JPEG, consider that JPEG images give the best color and the smallest
size. However, if your images contain line art or have transparent
areas, GIF is a better choice. Other factors to consider when
selecting the appropriate format include memory considerations, storage size,
accuracy and portability.
When it comes to imaging, file formats generally come in three
categories:
- Formats based on recognized standards (e.g. JPEG)
- De facto standards that began life as proprietary formats (e.g.
GIF and BMP)
- Formats intended to provide an industry standard, thus enabling data with
similar origins to be shared across different applications or platforms
(e.g. TIFF)
A professional-grade imaging SDK should support file formats from all of these genres, providing developers with a complete range of imaging capabilities, including the capture and processing of scanned images.
Additionally, the SDK should facilitate the exchange of data from one format to another as well as provide powerful image-processing capabilities.
With over 150 image formats in existence and an ever-increasing array of
capabilities and options for each, developers must rely on an SDK that
can support the most popular graphics file formats, thus preventing compatibility problems before they arise.
