IMAGING GLOSSARY

DDB (Windows)

Device-Dependent Bitmap.

A Window image specification that depends on the capabilities of a specific graphics display controller. Since a DDB is matched to the current graphics controller, it is fast and easy to display since large blocks of memory need only be copied to the controller.
